Dignity Dreams

This project has been selected as the presidents project for 2015On Monday the 22nd June, Soroptimist International Cape of Good Hope handed out 115 reusable sanitary wear packs made by an amazing organization called Dignity Dreams (www.dignitydreams.com). Brainchild of this project is Sandra Millar who is determined to distribute 18 000 packs to school girls before we celebrate Mandela Day on the 18th July. The pack contains 5 pads, 3 panties, washing instruction leaflet and comes in an attractive drawstring bag. Pads can be used for up to 5 years and are South African Bureau of Standards approved. This club project was made possible due to a fundraiser the club held last year at the Masque Theatre and will repeat this year in order to purchase more packs. In South Africa alone many young girls stay at home during their menstrual period and do not attend school as they do not have the means to purchase disposable products.

This project is also part of SISAN’s( Soroptimist International Southern African Network) Programme Action focus to “ Keep the Girl Child at school”
